In a television interview with Oprah Winfrey, Lance Armstrong has admitted to taking performance enhancing drugs during his career.
The American, who won the Tour de France seven times, made the admission in the interview which was recorded on Monday evening.
Armstrong revealed that he took EPO as well as using other performance-enhancing drugs and when asked if a rider could have won cleanly at the time, he quickly dismissed the notion.
The 41-year-old said: "Not in that generation. I didn't invent the culture, but I didn't try to stop the culture.
"It's hard to talk about the culture. I don't want to accuse anyone else. I'm here to acknowledge my mistakes. The culture was what it was. I can't say [everybody was doping]."
Armstrong was banned for life and stripped of his tour titles in October.
