Mark Cavendish claims Dubai Tour victory

Briton Mark Cavendish holds off the challenge of John Degenkold to claim victory in the 2015 Dubai Tour.

Etixx – Quick-Step rider Mark Cavendish wrapped up victory in the 2015 Dubai Tour by claiming the final stage of the four-day race.

The 29-year-old Briton held off the challenge of Team Sky's Elia Viviani and Movistar's Juan Jose Lobato in a sprint finish to beat John Degenkolb to the title.

"It's nice to win a GC. Especially when all the days weren't flat stages," Cavendish told reporters.

"I'm super happy with my form and with the commitment of the Etixx-Quick-Step team. I'm looking forward to having a successful year."

The win is only the third stage-race title of Cavendish's career, though he has won 123 races.
