UCI president Brian Cookson has confirmed that this year's edition of the Tour of Beijing will be the last.
The race, which is due to begin on October 10, is the last World Tour competition of the year.
The move comes as a result of the UCI's decision not to renew the four-year contract they signed with Global Cycling Promotions to stage the event.
"It's not a major disaster," Cookson told L'Equipe.
"It is an event that has had it successes, but it's not a major disaster. We will look for other partners to organise other events and try to find another way to end the season on the road."
British duo David Millar and Chris Froome finished second and third overall in the inaugural edition of the event in 2011.
