Bradley Wiggins has to prepare immediately for the Olympics after winning the Tour de France.

Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins has said that his preparation for Wednesday's Olympics time trial has given him no time to rest after his victory in France.

In non-Olympic years Wiggins would have time to relax after the gruelling event but he said he has had to get straight back on the bike with his Olympic event less than two weeks after winning the Tour de France.

Wiggins also claimed that the immediacy of the Olympics has kept him in great shape when he takes to Hampton Court Palace on Wednesday.

"I feel a lot better than I normally do when I finish the Tour de France because with the Olympics we've had to keep going," Reuters quotes Wiggins as saying. "[You are] riding the bike Monday, Tuesday, still watching what you're eating and not drinking.

"You would normally have a week off the bike. Can't be bothered to go out of the house, that sort of thing. It's been a good distraction, the Olympics."

Wiggins has two individual golds and one team victory in his Olympic career.
