Great Britain rider Sarah Storey has smashed the world record in the women's C5 individual pursuit to qualify for the final.

The 33-year-old was under pressure to set one of the four quickest times to qualify as she went up against United States cyclist Jennifer Schuble.

While the American started well, it didn't take long for Storey to push on and eventually lap her competitor to set a new world record time of 3:32.170.

Storey's compatriot Crystal Lane has also qualified, which means that the Brit will be able to contest for a bronze medal against Fiona Southorn for New Zealand, while Storey will battle for gold with Poland's Anna Harkowska.
