Team Sky boss Dave Brailsford has suggested that Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins may take a back seat in next year's race.
The 100th edition of the prestigious race has been given a more mountainous route, which is unlikely to suit the 32-year-old Olympic gold medallist.
"We had the first and second-placed riders last year. Bradley is the reigning champion and the course will decide our plans for next year," Brailsford told Sky Sports News.
"We plan our resources to the best of our ability so that the Team Sky jersey is in the best place to win the race overall."
Reports have claimed that Chris Froome, who finished second in France in the summer, could lead the team next year.
