Mark Cavendish has claimed the 25th Tour de France stage win of his career by comfortably beating second-placed Peter Sagan in stage 13 this afternoon.
Cavendish cruised to his second win of this year's Tour, a victory that puts him joint-third in the all-time stage winners list, behind only Bernard Hinault (28) and Eddy Merckx (34).
Overall leader Chris Froome didn't have such a good day, however, as Alberto Contador cut the Englishman's lead by more than a minute.
Contador launched a late attack to reduce the gap between him and Froome to two minutes 45 seconds, although the Spaniard is still third in the general classification behind Bauke Mollema.
Meanwhile, Alejandro Valverde, who began the day second overall, saw his challenge effectively ended after a puncture caused him to lose more than eight minutes.
