Jonny Clayton surges into third position in the Premier League standings with a second successive weekly victory, this time in Birmingham.

Jonny Clayton has surged into third position in the Premier League table by winning Week 10 in Birmingham.

Up until last week, the Welshman had endured an indifferent campaign, but he was able to replicate his Week nine success by prevailing in the West Midlands.

Clayton came through matches with Nathan Aspinall, Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright, the latter finally showing some form after a dismal campaign.

Although that reel of victories did not match his efforts in Germany, Clayton is now six matches unbeaten and occupies third spot in the table, two points ahead of fifth.

The final with Wright went the distance, neither player establishing more than a one-leg lead throughout the contest, but it was Clayton who got over the line with a 53 checkout after Wright had failed to take out 87.

Wright, who had previously won just one match in nine events, remains bottom but has moved to within four points of seventh-placed Dimitri van den Bergh.

While Van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price were losing semi-finalists, they have strengthened their hold of playoff spots, Van Gerwen five points clear of Price who is in second spot.

Clayton, Michael Smith and Aspinall are separated by two points between third and fifth, with Chris Dobey five points behind fourth position.
