Michael van Gerwen confident ahead of Adrian Lewis test

World number one Michael van Gerwen reveals that defeating Gary Anderson while performing below his best has boosted his confidence ahead of his match with Adrian Lewis.

Michael van Gerwen has revealed that he has taken confidence from beating world champion Gary Anderson in the Premier League with a below-par display last Thursday.

The world number one overturned a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Scot to continue his stunning run of form since the start of 2015, and although his 31-match winning streak came to an end at the weekend, the Dutchman is confident of securing a win over Adrian Lewis in Belfast.

The 25-year-old told PDC.tv: "I feel good and I want to keep this going. I wasn't at my best against Gary last week and I still won so that gives me a lot of confidence.

"Adrian's a great player and we always have good games so I'm looking forward to it. I've enjoyed going to Belfast in the last two years and I've played well there, so it's exciting for me."

Van Gerwen possesses the only 100% record ahead of week four of the Premier League.
