Stephen Bunting thrashes Robbie Green to reach BDO World Darts Championship final

Top seed Stephen Bunting books a place in his first BDO World Darts Championship final by beating fellow Merseyside thrower Robbie Green 6-1 at Lakeside.

Top seed Stephen Bunting has booked a place in his first BDO World Darts Championship final by thrashing Robbie Green.

Bunting recorded a three-dart average of 93.12 en route to beating fourth seed Green by six sets to one.

Green did not have a single dart at a double in the first set, as Bunting asserted his dominance early on.

Bunting took the second set as well, but Green claimed the third, sealing it with an 84 finish on the bullseye.

Green's good work was quickly undone though, as he missed half a dozen darts at double six, allowing Bunting to break at the start of set four, which the tournament favourite swiftly wrapped up with Shanghai on the 20s.

An ill-timed bounce-out frustrated Green and caused him to have a mini on-stage tantrum in the fifth set. Bunting consoled his fellow Merseysider during the break, but only after pinning double two to open up a three-set lead.

Bunting cruised through set six, taking it 3-0.

Green briefly threatened to mount a comeback by taking a 2-0 lead in the seventh. However, he wasted three darts to win the set, before being punished by Bunting, who took out 79 for the match.

Bunting will face either Alan Norris or Jan Dekker in tomorrow's final.
