Michael van Gerwen powers past Dave Chisnall

Michael van Gerwen will play Raymond van Barneveld in the European Championship semi-finals after averaging 111 in beating Dave Chisnall.

Michael van Gerwen has progressed to the semi-finals of the European Championships after recording a 10-5 victory over Dave Chisnall.

The world number one, who has never reached the final of the event in Germany, averaged 111 in a scintillating display to defeat the St Helens thrower.

Van Gerwen will play Dutch compatriot Raymond van Barneveld in the last four after the five-time world champion won the final four legs to beat Peter Wright 10-7.

Stephen Bunting, who edged out Phil Taylor in a last-leg decider on Saturday night, was eliminated from the tournament after he succumbed to a 10-7 defeat to Terry Jenkins.

Mervyn King will face Jenkins in the this evening's semi-finals after he comfortably overcame Jelle Klaasen by a 10-5 scoreline.
