Steve Royle has been chosen by the judges as the first act automatically through to next month's Britain's Got Talent final.

The 51-year-old entertainer impressed the panel with his comedic banter and humorous juggling routine in the first of the semi-finals, earning votes from all four judges.

"Thank you for giving us an opportunity to perform again," he told the judges. "It's the first time I've performed for people for six months and it was like a release of energy all stored up!"

The vote is now open for the public to decide which of the seven other acts will join him - magician James Stott, father-and-son magicians James and Dylan Piper, choir SOS From The Kids, young dancer Yakub Saunders, singer Imen Siar, dance troupe Urban Turtles or singer Fayth Ifil.

Voting will close at 10am on Monday, with the winning semi-finalist not being confirmed until the final in October.
