Eddie Hearn signs an exclusive deal with streaming service DAZN for his Matchroom promoter

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has signed a five-year, "game-changing" deal with streaming service DAZN for coverage of fighters from his Matchroom stable.

The global agreement will enable boxing fans to watch fights through the DAZN service, which costs £1.99 a month, rather than purchasing fights on a PPV basis via Sky at around £19.95 a pop.

Matchroom boxers include Katie Taylor, Josh Kelly, Luke Campbell and Billy Joe Saunders - all of whom will now appear on DAZN - but crucially, world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is excluded from the deal as he has a separate exclusive arrangement with Sky.

Speaking at a press conference today, Hearn explained: "The strategy for Matchroom is to be the global powerhouse of boxing, and the strategy for DAZN is to be the unrivalled home of global boxing.

"We will do a minimum of 16 shows in the UK. We'll probably do nine or 10 in the US this year. We have four shows in Italy, four in Spain. We have two new territories we will announce in due course.

"Our strategy is to have a show a week in different major cities all over the world."

As well as live fights, the deal will also see the two companies work together on producing new documentary programming and feature shows.
