Sky launches six new FAST channels, including three new Sky Sports-branded channels.

Sky has made its first move into the FAST market with the launch of six brand new channels.

Earlier this week the broadcaster launched the Xumo Play app - from owner Comcast - for its Sky Glass and Sky Stream customers, offering more than 70 free channels themed around certain genres or specific shows.

The lineup also includes six new stations from Sky, including three new free Sky Sports channels and a Sky Arts spinoff dedicated to the Artist of the Year programmes.

While initially available only via the app, Sky intends to make the channels accessible directly via the EPG later this year - a move that could pave the way for a flurry of new channels from other broadcasters to also join the EPG.

In a press release, Sky also confirmed that the channels will be available on Sky Q "later this year", although whether they too will be available via the EPG remains ambiguous.

The six new channels and their descriptions are:

Pick Paranormal: not for the faint of heart, Pick Paranormal features Most Haunted, the fan favourite TV show investigating all things supernatural.

Emergency 24/7: with Highway Cops, Air Ambulance ER and Stop Search Seize, plus many more shows, Emergency 24/7 is packed full of drama.

Sky Artist of The Year: the channel for art aficionados, viewers can catch up on Sky's Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year.

Sky Sports Stories: whatever their sport, Sky Sports Stories has a documentary for every fan - from EFL Rivalries to Her Huddle.

Sky Sports Classics: viewers can delve into the Sky Sports archives with the likes of Premier League Icons and Premier League Legends.

Sky Sports Vault: the channel revisits a whole host of archive darts, EFL and boxing content including 30 Years of The PDC World Darts Championship and Fight Night.
