Having lied to Ryan about what he's doing, Bobby visits Rob again in prison, where his dad informs him that he has found religion on the inside and wants to donate a kidney to Carla if he's a match. But things take a turn on the other side of the visiting room when Matty pulls out a knife and a hostage situation ensues. Meanwhile, Carla learns about the situation from Lisa and deduces that Bobby is caught up in the drama.

After learning from his dad that the police have found CCTV footage of them disposing of the knife, Dylan heads to the Precinct and starts drinking vodka. Meanwhile, as Logan lurks nearby, the residents are shocked to learn from George that Mason will be getting just a basic funeral with no family present.

As Abi continues to be consumed with thoughts about Mason's death, Kevin admits to Debbie that he's found a lump. She encourages him to tell Abi but when Kevin finds her crying in Seb's memorial garden, he realises that he can't tell her yet.

At Bertie's birthday party, the youngster sees Cassie putting antihistamines into Ken's tea and tells Daisy, who in turn tells Daniel. A drunken Bethany gets the wrong idea and knocks back the prosecco, and when Daisy tries to help her out, a nasty fall results in Daniel taking Daisy to A&E. Kit happens to be there and when he hears the nurse telling Daisy that she can still have an X-ray while pregnant, it's clear that her secret is out.

Bobby insists to a skeptical Carla that Rob really has found religion and is a changed man. She agrees to go visit her brother, who tells her that as a result of finding God he wants to help her by giving her his kidney. How will she react?

Also: Alya admits to Adam that she's thinking of quitting her job as it's compromising her morals, while on the eve of her trial a downbeat Lauren decides to finish things with a devastated Max.

Friday, January 17 (Episodes 11471 and 11472)

Lauren's trial starts with Bobby and Nina watching on. The prosecution barrister describes the manner of Joel's death to the court and paints Lauren out to be a liar. Later, back at the prison, Brie purposefully winds up Lauren by suggesting that Frankie would be better off without her.

Kevin is referred for more tests by Dr Gaddas and, unable to talk to an emotionally-distracted Abi, he opens up to Tim. When he returns home he finds Alfie and Abi asleep on the sofa - and while he's taking Alfie up to bed, Debbie lets herself in, waking Abi, who accuses her of stealing Alfie. Kevin fumes at Abi for her over-reaction and in the heat of the moment, blurts out that he's found a lump and may have testicular cancer.

Also: Carla realises that if she accepts Rob's offer of a kidney then it will cost her £100,000 to go private because he's a prisoner and will need security in hospital.

Elsewhere, Leanne's left thoughtful when Tracy tells her that she's better off without Nick, while Daniel admits to Adam that he suspects Cassie is poisoning Ken but can't say anything because she knows Daisy may be pregnant by him and is blackmailing him to stay quiet.

This hour-long episode airs Friday, January 17 at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX
