Young actor Harry Visinoni has discussed his character Seb Franklin's shock exit from Coronation Street in tonight's episodes.
In a storyline that has played out this week, Seb and girlfriend Nina (Mollie Gallagher) were viciously beaten by Corey (Maximus Evans) and his friends in a hate crime attack, leaving them both in hospital.
Seb's condition suddenly took a turn for the worse, however, and he died of his injuries - leaving the residents of the street devastated.
Explaining how the storyline developed, Visinoni told reporters: "I had a meeting with Iain MacLeod, the producer of the show, just to discuss potential avenues for Seb going forward and this storyline got mentioned as an option and I thought, 'well, it's an end for the character and it's a storyline I'd love to be a part of and it's the perfect way for me to wave goodbye to Seb.'
"The thing is, I never intended to stay in the show forever and while I was there it was always a goal of mine to play a major part in a story that's as big as this for the show. So yeah, when it came through the door it wasn't something that I could pass up, really."
Reflecting on his five years on the cobbles, the 21-year-old continued: "I've gone from a boy to a man in this time. I've grown up so much, and on Corrie you learn so much all the time.
"You get the opportunity to work with so many different people - different directors, different actors - all the time. I wouldn't say there's any one person I've learned the most from.
"From storyline to storyline, scene to scene, day to day - you just learn so much."
Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
