Sally Ann Matthews hints at new Coronation Street character

Sally Ann Matthews suggests that her Coronation Street character Jenny Connor is about to be joined on the cobbles by a new family member.

Coronation Street's Sally Ann Matthews has hinted that her character Jenny Connor could soon be joined on the cobbles by another family member.

Jenny first appeared on the street in 1986 as the daughter of the crooked Alan Bradley (Mark Eden), who infamously got killed by a tram in Blackpool after terrorising wife Rita (Barbara Knox).

Over the years since, Jenny has had next to no family members appear in Weatherfield but speaking to journalists this week, Matthews suggested that that is about to change.

"She's thrilled with this arrival. It's what she needed at this point," she revealed.

"Her life has been everything to do with the Connors – she has had to put up with a lot and deal with Carla's breakdown, Aidan's suicide and hold it together.

"To have someone from her side is really great.

"She's desperate to embrace that. Oh god yeah, it's going to be fun."

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
