Returning Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies reveals that he has already written some of the new scripts.

Russell T Davies has revealed that he has already penned some new episodes of Doctor Who ahead of his return as showrunner.

Earlier this year it was confirmed that both current Doctor Jodie Whittaker and current showrunner Chris Chibnall would depart after three special episodes airing in 2022, with Davies and a new Doctor at the helm thereafter.

In a new interview with The Guardian, Davies admitted that he already has some of the new scripts in the bag - including one episode which is still two years away from being broadcast.

"I've already written some of the episodes," he told the newspaper. "The first will go out in November 2023 – that's the 60th anniversary of the show."

Asked about the identity of Whittaker's replacement, he claimed: "We have genuinely not cast anyone yet. We're just starting auditions."

Davies previously served as showrunner on Doctor Who between 2005 and 2010.
