EastEnders confirms two positive coronavirus cases

The BBC confirms that two members of the EastEnders team have contracted coronavirus and are now self-isolating at home.

The BBC has confirmed that two members of the EastEnders production team have tested positive for coronavirus.

Filming of the soap resumed at the end of June after a break of more than three months due to the pandemic, and all members of the cast and crew attending set are now regularly tested for COVID-19.

According to the Daily Mail, it is unclear whether those affected are members of the cast or crew, although filming of new episodes is expected to continue uninterrupted.

"We can confirm that two members of the EastEnders team have tested positive for coronavirus and they are now self-isolating at home following the latest government guidelines," a spokesperson told the newspaper.

"We have rigorous protocols in place to manage COVID-19 as the safety of all those involved in the production is paramount."

EastEnders continues Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
