Heather Peace explains why her character Eve decides to turn on Nish in EastEnders.

EastEnders star Heather Peace has said that her character Eve's jealousy eventually led to her deciding to turn on boss Nish (Navin Chowdhry).

For some months Eve - lawyer and resident fixer for the Panesar family - has been conducting an affair with Nish's wife Suki (Balvinder Sopal), taking every opportunity to have "business" trips away together.

This week, however, Eve was gutted to learn that Suki is still sleeping with Nish too, and her rage drove her to offer police officer Jack (Scott Maslen) the evidence he would need to take Nish down.

"Eve is absolutely head over heels and she believes that they are soulmates," said Peace. "But ultimately, Suki hasn't said the three magic words to her yet so she's feeling dreadfully insecure.

"They've been together for a while now, and Eve discovers that Nish and Suki are still being intimate so I would say she's pretty insanely jealous.

"I think at the beginning of their relationship she was willing to take the bits that she could, but as they've got further into the relationship it's got a bit harder to take."

Explaining Eve's decision to approach Jack, she continued: "As Eve is going through Nish's books, she finds that money coming in and out of the business in relation to the chicken shop actually has nothing to do with it, so she decides to photocopy and take a record of it all to garner enough evidence to give to Jack to look at.

"Eve wants to plant all of that evidence on Nish, and for him to be caught with said evidence as it wouldn't take much for Nish to be sent back down as he's still on licence."

EastEnders continues Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
