Gogglebox to remain on air during outbreak

Channel 4 insists that the current series of Gogglebox will continue in spite of the coronavirus crisis forcing the UK into lockdown.

Channel 4 have confirmed that the current series of Gogglebox will continue as planned despite the UK entering lockdown due to coronavirus.

The show, which films families around the country watching some of the week's most popular TV programmes, returned for its 15th series on February 21 and is due to run until the end of May.

Normally a camera crew and production staff set up in each of the participants' homes to film footage for the show, but starting this week new "rigged" camera setups will be used instead.

The change means that the families will not need to interact with production crew, complying with government guidelines on social distancing measures in a bid to slow the spread of the deadly disease.

Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
