Prue Leith: 'I need a glass of wine by 7pm'

Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith reveals that she enjoys at least one glass of wine a night, with her first arriving no later than 7pm.

Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith has admitted that she has at least one glass of wine a day and has done so for decades.

The 80-year-old remains in good health and in addition to her TV duties, recently agreed to advise the government on how to improve the meals provided to NHS patients in hospital.

Speaking on a new episode of the Fortunately... with Fi and Jane podcast, Leith admitted: "I don't go a single evening without a glass of wine, in fact a good two glasses of wine.

"I'm usually quite busy until about 6.30pm but if I haven't got a drink in my hand by 7pm I start thinking it's definitely time.

"It's always been like that. When my children were little I used to battle to get them into bed by 7pm."

Leith recently revealed that she is unsure if the new series of Bake Off will be able to go ahead as planned this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
