Hollyoaks legend Diane Langton has died at the age of 77, her agent has announced.
The actress is best known for playing Nana McQueen on the Channel 4 soap since 2007, a role she continued filming as recently as a few weeks ago.
According to her agent Shane Collins, Langton died this morning (Wednesday) after what was described as "a short illness".
In a statement, he said: "Diane had a rich and remarkable career appearing on Stage, in Films, and on television, including playing the iconic Nana McQueen in Hollyoaks from 2007 to the present day.
"Diane trained at the Corona Academy and started her professional career as a dancer, touring with ballet companies throughout Europe, followed by appearances on That Was the Week That Was and The London Palladium."
Hollyoaks writer Shaun Kitchener posted on X: "So sad to hear of Diane Langton's passing. Nana McQueen is a Hollyoaks icon; writers were *always* asking if she could be added to our episodes! Such a wonderful screen presence - so very funny, but gave warmth and heart like no other. A telly legend. Love to all who knew her."
Langton was also known for her roles in Only Fools and Horses, playing Del Boy's ex-girlfriend June Snell, and in EastEnders as Bev Williams, the mother of Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins).
She is survived by second husband Derek James and a son from her first marriage.
