Spider-Man star Tom Holland: 'I'm a lucky little s**t'

Spider-Man star Tom Holland says that the new movie will be "the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made".

Tom Holland has declared that the upcoming Spider-Man film is "the most ambitious superhero movie ever made".

The Marvel movie - due for release on December 17 this year - is rumoured to feature Holland's predecessors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in a storyline that will see various iterations of the character from different universes unite.

While not confirming the rumours, Holland hinted at the magnitude of the new film by describing himself as a "lucky little shit who happens to be Spider-Man" in an interview with Variety.

"I can say that it's the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made," he said.

"You sit down, read the script, and see what they're trying to do, and they're succeeding. It's really impressive. I've never seen a standalone superhero movie quite like it.

"And I'm just, you know, again, that lucky little shit who happens to be Spider-Man in it.

"We got a lot more shooting to do. We started before Christmas and shot for like seven weeks. We stopped for the Christmas break, and then we're starting again.

"I'm just as excited as everyone else to see it, let alone be a part of it."

Marvel has refused to comment on the rumours of Maguire and Garfield's involvement.
