The makers of M3GAN announce an "erotic" spinoff movie titled Soulm8te.

The makers of M3GAN have announced plans for an "erotic" spinoff movie called Soulm8te.

The comedy horror film - about an AI doll which develops a murderous personality - was an unexpected hit on release in January 2023, earning a gross of more than $180m off a budget of just $12m.

A sequel, M3GAN 2.0, has already been announced for release next summer, but now producers Atomic Monster and Blumhouse have announced a fresh spinoff.

The synopsis for the film reads: "A man acquires an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife.

"In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate."

Director Kate Dolan said: "Fundamentally, I view this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness. Despite technological advances, there are enduring human truths we cannot escape, and I am looking forward to delving into those depths."

Soulm8te is due for release on January 2, 2026.
