Music producer Richard Perry, known for working with Rod Stewart, Carly Simon and The Pointer Sisters, dies at the age of 82.

Influential music producer Richard Perry has died at the age of 82 following a cardiac arrest on Christmas Eve.

Coming to prominence in the 1960s, Perry was known for his work with artists including The Pointer Sisters, Rod Stewart, Barbra Streisand and Carly Simon - including the latter's 'You're So Vain'.

According to close friend Daphna Kastner, Perry, who was believed to be suffering from Parkinson's Disease in recent years, suffered a cardiac arrest and died at a Los Angeles in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

"He was generous, fun, sweet and made the world a better place," she said. "The world is a little less sweeter without him here. But it's a little bit sweeter in heaven."

Perry, who was in a relationship with Jane Fonda from 2009 to 2017, had no children and is survived by younger brothers Roger, Fred and Andrew.
