Celebrity Gogglebox producers issue apology to Eamonn Holmes

The production company behind Celebrity Gogglebox apologises to Eamonn Holmes after he slammed the edit of Friday night's show.

The producers of Celebrity Gogglebox have issued an apology to Eamonn Holmes after he slammed their "atrocious" edit of last night's show.

In the episode, the contributors were shown a scene from an episode of Ambulance in which a young boy witnessed his father collapse from a heart attack.

Holmes was then seen recalling the time he drove wife Ruth Langsford to hospital while she was in labour and forgot the directions, prompting some criticism from viewers who accused him of trivialising the serious scene they had just watched.

The This Morning presenter took to Twitter after the episode aired to reveal that after watching the clip, he had actually opened up about the death of his own father in similar circumstances when he was a child.

In a statement on Twitter this evening, production company Studio Lambert said: "We have apologised to Eamonn over what happened in this week's episode. We understand and respect Eamonn's feelings on such a deeply personal story.

"We have taken the decision to edit the episode for future repeats and All4. We look forward to working with Eamonn and Ruth for the rest of the series."

Holmes later said that he accepted the show's apology and is now keen to "move on".

Celebrity Gogglebox continues Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
