Michael McIntyre to front new gameshow The Wheel on BBC One

Michael McIntyre is to host a new primetime gameshow, The Wheel, for BBC One.

The BBC has announced a new primetime gameshow, The Wheel, to be hosted by comedian Michael McIntyre.

The precise format of the series has not yet been disclosed but it will feature contestants competing for cash prizes, celebrity guests and comedic moments from McIntyre.

"I am thrilled to be hosting a show that does reinvent the wheel," McIntyre said of the show. "Contestants will be competing to win big money, celebrity experts will have their knowledge put the test, and I will desperately be trying to avoid too many puns.

"I simply can't wait to get behind the wheel, I'm dizzy with excitement!"

The 10-part series is expected to air on BBC One later this year.
