Ruth Jones insists no new Gavin & Stacey in the works

Ruth Jones insists that there has been no further progress on new episodes of Gavin & Stacey.

Ruth Jones has reiterated that there has been no progress on a new episode or series of Gavin & Stacey.

The comedy returned to BBC One after 10 years last year with a Christmas special, which proved to be a huge ratings success, drawing more than 18 million viewers.

The episode ended on a marriage proposal cliffhanger, naturally leading to speculation of more episodes in future, but Jones insists that she has not been working on scripts with writing partner James Corden during lockdown.

Pressed on the subject on The One Show, Jones replied: "Do you know what? I could comment on that and it would be in the press tomorrow. But I'm not going to say anything and let people just speculate!

"But we didn't. We always have to be in the same room together, you see. And we couldn't bubble, it was too far."

Speaking earlier this year, Gavin & Stacey star Larry Lamb promised that it is a question of "when, not if" the show will return.
