Stranger Things 'to resume filming in September'

Netflix drama Stranger Things will reportedly resume filming of its fourth season in mid-September.

Filming on the fourth season of Stranger Things has reportedly been scheduled to resume in September.

The popular Netflix sci-fi series began shooting its new - and potentially final - season in February in Lithuania but production was brought to a halt a month later by the coronavirus pandemic.

Over the last month TV productions have gradually began to pick up again with new safety protocols in place and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, cast and crew on Stranger Things have been informed of a September 17 restart date.

The six-month delay to production means that filming is now not likely to conclude until the end of this year or early next year, with the show's release now expected to be pushed back until later in 2021.

Show creators the Duffer Brothers have previously suggested that the fourth season could be the last, although they have also hinted at the "possibility" of making a fifth.
