Judge Rinder fought back tears on This Morning today as he revealed that his grandfather has passed away after contracting coronavirus.
Most of the world's population are now in lockdown due to the disease, which disproportionately affects the elderly and has killed more than 54,000 people so far.
Rinder was appearing on the ITV show via video link to advise viewers on the legal implications of COVID-19 and ended his segment with a tribute to his grandfather.
"My 92-year-old grandad has died from coronavirus," he said. "The thing is, he survived the second World War. He was a man utterly determined to see the joy in the world, despite there being so much appalling news.
"He always saw the positive. And I think he would like me to pass on that message. While the news is depressing, there are thousands out there who have recovered from this disease.
"I loved him very much. He would always ask me what good news was out there. I will remember him in that positive way."
Over 1 million people have now tested positive for COVID-19, including more than 33,700 in the UK.
