Comedian Chris McCausland makes history as he becomes Strictly Come Dancing's first ever blind contestant.

Chris McCausland has been officially named as Strictly Come Dancing's first celebrity in the lineup for this year's series.

The 47-year-old comedian - a regular on top panel shows - will make history as the ballroom contest's first ever blind contestant when he takes to the dancefloor next month.

Speaking about his participation, McCausland said: "If anybody out there is thinking, 'how the hell is he going to do that?' then rest assured that I am thinking exactly the same thing.

"I don't dance, I haven't danced, I can't dance, I can't see the dancing I will have to do. What can possibly go wrong? Okay, don't answer that...!"

The full celebrity lineup - expected to number 15 in total - will be confirmed over the course of the next few days.
