Joe Exotic "over the moon" with 'Tiger King' fame

The director of Tiger King reveals that Joe Exotic is "over the moon" with the reaction to the show.

Tiger King star Joe Exotic is said to be "over the moon" with the reception to the Netflix series that has made him a household name around the world.

The seven-part show documents the zookeeper's extraordinary life, charting the events up to his eventual incarceration on charges of animal cruelty and a plot to murder rival Carole Baskin.

While some of the participants, including Baskin, have denounced their portrayal in the documentary, director Rebecca Chaiklin says she has received no such complaints from Exotic - even though he has yet to watch the show.

"Most characters are super happy," she said. "The Rick Kirkhams, the Josh Dials, the Saffs – and then there are other characters who are probably less happy with the way they were portrayed.

"I mean, Joe is over the moon. I really mean over the moon.

"Even though he is locked in this horrible prison, he's happier than he has ever been in his life, because he is finally famous."

Exotic is hoping to be freed from jail either through appeal or by a presidential pardon from Donald Trump.
