ITV's new Noel Clarke-led drama Viewpoint makes a decent start in the Monday night ratings.

New crime drama Viewpoint got off to an encouraging start in the ratings for ITV last night, according to early figures.

The show, which is being stripped across five nights this week in the 9pm slot, stars Noel Clarke and follows a police investigation into the disappearance of a primary school teacher.

Overnight figures show that 4.54m (26.3%) tuned in for the first episode on Monday night, an increase on the 2.68m who watched Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip in the same slot the week before.

ITV was comfortably the winner in the 9pm hour, bringing in more than three times as many viewers as BBC One's Greta Thunberg: A Year To Change The World, which had a paltry 1.3m (7.5%).

The 7.30pm edition of Coronation Street was the most-watched programme of the day on any channel, bringing in 5.42m (31.8%), with 5m (26.8%) returning for the second episode an hour later.
