Race report commissioner Mercy Muroki joins GB News
GB News signs up Mercy Muroki, who was part of the commission that concluded Britain is "not institutionally racist".

GB News has announced that Mercy Muroki has joined its presenting lineup as co-host of an afternoon show.

The social policy researcher was part of the government's commission into race which controversially concluded last month that Britain is "not institutionally racist".

Muroki is a columnist for The Sun and previously worked as a senior researcher at the Centre for Social Justice.

"Too many people with common-sense views are dismissed when in fact they've got something really valuable to add to our national conversation," she said.

"We need to be much bolder in allowing sensible people to speak their minds without being ridiculed or shut down. I'm excited that GB News will be a welcoming place to challenge stereotypes in a non-judgemental way."

John McAndrew, head of programming at GB News, said: "Mercy is a real inspiration and is determined to do journalism differently so that we really reflect the views and concerns of the whole country."

Meanwhile, the channel, which expects to launch by the end of June, has also announced Bradley West as its correspondent for the North West region.
