Arsenal star Mesut Ozil: 'I ignore what people say about me'

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil says that he does not care what the media says and only takes criticism from his manager Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has insisted that he does not listen to criticism, unless it comes from manager Arsene Wenger.

The German World Cup winner had a difficult start to life at the Emirates following his move from Real Madrid in 2013.

However, this season, the 27-year-old has scored four goals and made 12 assists in all competitions so far.

"I've been playing for a long time, I've been in the game for a long time, ever since I was young," Ozil told the club's official website. "When I played well I was praised and if I didn't I was criticised, but the main thing is what the manager thinks about me.

"Football is a day-to-day business. You can play really well in one game, and then not as well in the next. You just deal with it yourself.

"I don't look at what the media says because I'm playing really well at the moment. Everything is working really well. It's not important what others think. I never look at what people write about me. I just deal with my performances myself."

Meanwhile, Arsenal need to beat Olympiacos by two clear goals this evening in order to progress into the last 16 of the Champions League.
