Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain eager to play at Euro 2015

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain admits that he would be interested in playing for the England Under-21s at next summer's European Championship.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed that he would be eager to play for the England Under-21s at next summer's European Championship.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the availability of players eligible to be included in Gareth Southgate's squad in recent days, and Oxlade-Chamberlain admits that he is interested in travelling to the Czech Republic if Roy Hodgson and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger decide it is the right decision.

When asked about playing in the tournament, the 21-year-old revealed on The Claire Balding Show: "Yes, you'd never turn your nose up at something like that.

"There's a lot that goes into that because the national team have two games around the same time as the tournament. So it's up to Roy Hodgson to decide. There's a lot of players in the England squad at the moment that could drop back down and play for the under-21s so it's up to the manager to decide.

"Gareth might not even want me. It's a discussion that will be had closer to the time with the England manager, someone at Arsenal and Gareth Southgate."

Reports have suggested that Liverpool's Raheem Sterling is also eager to play in the tournament.
