Wojciech Szczesny focused on life with Roma despite love for Arsenal

Wojciech Szczesny backtracks on recent comments made about his hopes to return to Arsenal once his loan deal with Roma concludes.

Wojciech Szczesny has backtracked on recent comments made about his hopes to return to Arsenal once his loan deal with Roma concludes.

The Poland international stopper joined Rudi Garcia's side this summer after falling out of favour under Gunners manager Arsene Wenger last season and Petr Cech was signed from Chelsea.

Szczesny was earlier this week quoted as saying that playing for Arsenal again is his "dream," but the 25-year-old has been quick to update those thoughts.

"My comments need to be understood properly. I'm still an Arsenal player and if they call me back I couldn't refuse," he told reporters. "But until then, I'll stay here and give my best for Roma.

"I've settled well and I'm happy here. I like the atmosphere and I want to do my best to repay the confidence that the club and the coach has shown in me.

"I feel much better physically and I'm motivated for the upcoming matches. I hope to improve with every game."

Szczesny has so far made 181 appearances for Arsenal since his debut in 2009.
