Chelsea have reportedly identified Atletico Madrid central defender Diego Godin as a potential target ahead of the summer transfer window.
Captain John Terry and Gary Cahill have been supported by Kurt Zouma this season, but signing another defender is believed to be a priority for Jose Mourinho as he looks to challenge for the Champions League title next year.
According to The Mirror, Real Madrid's Raphael Varane is Mourinho's top target but the Frenchman is unlikely to leave the Bernabeu in the summer and Godin is seen as a realistic alternative.
The Uruguayan played a key role in helping Atletico win La Liga last season, and his form in recent years has also seen him linked with Manchester United.
Godin has a £28.5m release clause in his current deal which expires in 2018.
