Gary Rowett wants to restore pride at Birmingham City

New Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett says that he wants to restore pride to the club following their poor start to the Championship campaign.

New Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has said that he wants to restore pride to the club.

The former Blues defender was named as Lee Clark's successor on Monday, after leaving his post at Burton Albion.

Rowett, who spent two years at St Andrew's between 1998 and 2000, hopes that the players can win back the support of the fans.

"The aim for me now is to work as hard, as professionally and as diligently as I can to produce a team that can replicate the passion and pride that the supporters have; a team that they can believe in," the Western Daily Press quotes him as saying.

"I know this job won't be easy but I'm ready for that challenge."

Birmingham, who currently sit 23rd in the Championship table, travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday in Rowett's first game in charge.
