Sean Dyche frustrated with Burnley's "below-par performance" against West Brom

Burnley boss Sean Dyche says that his team put in a "below-par performance" in their 4-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has claimed that his side put in a "below-par performance" in Monday night's defeat to West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

The Clarets were on the end of a 4-0 thumping, which halted the club's unbeaten Premier League run at three games.

Matt Phillips, James Morrison and Darren Fletcher scored in the first half, while Salomon Rondon hammered the final nail in the coffin after the break.

"I reflect on a really below par performance and you can't afford to do that," Dyche told Sky Sports News. "Away we've not been as good and you can't play like that at this level against good sides.

"Weirdly we got drunk on trying to play too much, we were trying to overplay, we played into their hands - it's sometimes the frustration of a manager putting these sessions on designing on that not to happen. I broke my leg here at 17 and I have never had a result here - one of the few grounds in the country where I have had nothing.

"We have good points on the board but you have to build on what you are doing at home and take that on the road. I think some of that is a mentality thing - to play with more belief."

As a result, Burnley have dropped one place to 12th in the table.
