Southampton are reportedly in talks with Burnley forward Jay Rodriguez after agreeing a club-record fee for the player.

Southampton are said to be in talks with Burnley forward Jay Rodriguez after agreeing a fee for the player.

The Saints had previously failed with a £4.5m bid for the 22-year-old, who has also been linked with a move to Everton.

However, the Premier League new boys have upped their offer to £6.5m, which has been accepted, and Southampton chairman Nicola Cortese is attempting to convince Rodriguez to make the move south, according to The Mirror.

If the deal goes through Rodriguez will become the club's record signing.
