Newcastle United are reportedly planning a loan bid for Chelsea defender Reece James.
With the Magpies attempting to stay above the Premier League relegation zone, manager Steve Bruce is already considering transfer targets ahead of the January window.
According to The Sun, the North-East outfit may attempt an audacious approach to sign James on a deal until the end of the campaign.
Having recently recovered from a significant ankle injury, James is now regarded as understudy to Cesar Azpilicueta at right-back.
The 19-year-old has already been provided with two starts and three substitute outings by Frank Lampard, the latest coming during the 4-2 triumph at Burnley on Saturday evening.
Given his status in the squad, the Blues are unlikely to be prepared to part ways with the academy graduate.
