A report claims that Sam Allardyce is open to taking up a coaching role in Major League Soccer, where he spent time as a player in the 1980s.

Former England boss Sam Allardyce is reportedly eyeing an instant return to management with a move to Major League Soccer.

The 61-year-old was dismissed by Three Lions chiefs last week after being caught offering advice on how to "get around" transfer rules which had been laid down by his employers.

Allardyce, who was also filmed negotiating a £400,000 deal for various speaking engagements in The Telegraph sting, could now spend time abroad as he looks to rebuild his career.

According to The Mirror, the ex-Sunderland manager is hoping to take up a position in the United States where he spent time as a player in the 1980s.

A former colleague is quoted by the publication as saying: "If someone gave him an opportunity in the States he'd struggle to turn it down. And the way he feels right now I don't think he'd be too bothered about turning his back on England."

Allardyce could be facing a ban from football, however, with the Football Association recently launching its own probe into the undercover newspaper report.
