Everton's Romelu Lukaku: 'Didier Drogba's my idol but we are different'

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku says that Didier Drogba is his "idol" but wants to make a name for himself.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has claimed that Didier Drogba is his "idol", but insists that he is his own man.

The Belgium international, who spent three years at Chelsea before joining Everton, has been dubbed the 'new Drogba' in his career.

However, the 22-year-old has claimed that he wants to make a name for himself in his own right.

"[Drogba] is my idol and he knows it, but I am Romelu Lukaku and I am proud of my family name and I want to make my own story," the Daily Star quotes Lukaku as saying.

"I respect Didier a lot but I think there are still differences in our style of play and I am a young player, I want to play at a high level and help my teammates out and hopefully at the end of my career I can say I did my best to create a name for myself."

Lukaku scored his 50th goal in his 100th appearance for Everton during Monday night's 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.
