Fulham midielder Tom Cairney claims that he has "no purpose" without football as the sporting world continues to be affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney has claimed that he has "no purpose" without football as the sporting world continues to be affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

The COVID-19 pandemic has seen leagues and tournaments in an array of sports postponed recently, with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics confirmed to have been suspended until 2021 on Tuesday.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Cairney has opened up on the struggles of adapting to life without football.

"We are so used to getting up at nine, get an omelette at half nine, get some treatment at 10, outside at half 10," said the 29-year-old.

"It is that bit that is the big change. I have not got a time to get up, I do not eat regularly, I miss meals.

"You are always just preparing for the next game or the next training session. When it all gets taken away you have no purpose. It is a really weird feeling."

Cairney has registered six goals in 23 league appearances this season.
