Former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has emerged as an even-money favourite for the Leeds United vacancy.
The position, which has been opened up following the departure of Neil Warnock, was initially tipped for recently-sacked Reading boss Brian McDermott.
Despite the 52-year-old topping the contenders list, bookmakers have since slashed Di Matteo's odds on returning to management at Elland Road.
The ex-West Bromwich Albion boss has been out of work since getting the boot from Stamford Bridge in November last year.
The 42-year-old guided the Blues to Champions League glory as well as an FA Cup final victory during his eight months in charge of the West London outfit.
