Joel Matip returns to Liverpool training

Liverpool defender Joel Matip returns to training following an ankle injury and could be fit to face West Ham United at Anfield.

Liverpool have confirmed that defender Joel Matip is back in training ahead of Sunday's match with West Ham United at Anfield.

The 25-year-old missed his side's 4-3 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth at the weekend with an ankle injury, being forced to watch on as the Reds conceded three times in the final 15 minutes at the Vitality Stadium.

However, the Cameroon international is expected to return against the Hammers after being pictured in training earlier this afternoon.

Liverpool had been on a 15-match unbeaten streak before the Bournemouth defeat, which left them four points adrift of Premier League leaders Chelsea.
