Jamie Carragher: 'Brendan Rodgers is right manager for Liverpool'

Jamie Carragher believes that Brendan Rodgers is the "right man" for Liverpool, despite questions over his future following their FA Cup exit.

Jamie Carragher believes that Brendan Rodgers should keep his job at Liverpool, despite the Northern Irishman reaching a third season at Anfield without silverware.

Questions over Rodgers's future arose after the Reds failed to reach the FA Cup final due to a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at Wembley on Sunday.

Last season, Rodgers guided Liverpool to within two points of Premier League champions Manchester City, but it is likely that the Merseyside outfit will end this campaign outside of the Champions League spots as they currently reside seven points behind fourth.

Despite talk of Rodgers's future, Carragher believes that the 42-year-old should keep his job and is hopeful that last summer's nine signings will eventually find their feet next season.

"Is he the right man? I think so," Carragher told Sky Sports News. "I don't think your whole future should be determined by one game. It was difficult with the players that came in and I still don't think many of them have bedded in yet.

"Brendan, the players and the staff will be looking to next season and thinking they will go one step further, winning a trophy maybe and getting back into the top four."

This Saturday, Liverpool will take on West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
