Sylvain Distin appears to have accused Liverpool striker Luis Suarez of almost breaking his ankle during the Merseyside derby.

Everton defender Sylvain Distin is believed to have launched a dig at Liverpool striker Luis Suarez following a dangerous tackle during the Merseyside derby.

The Uruguayan international caused controversy after committing a challenge on Distin's ankle during the 2-2 draw at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Distin tweeted: "Thanks for the concern. My ankle is all good considering it could have been broken."

Suarez escaped any action following the challenge but had a last-minute winning goal wrongly disallowed after being flagged offside.
